Weekend Workshop Contact Improvisation

 -- Counter Directions --

Expansion, clarity, lightness, precision in the unknown - they are all a potential gifts in a dance and a nice support for this dark and often heavy time of the year. We want to invite 'expansion & friends' by looking at 'counter directions'.
Each movement has a counter dircetion. Usually we are not aware of it. When we stand up our feet push down. When we reach forward the torso balances backwards. It is remarkable to experience the difference between neglecting and supporting the direction that we are moving away from.
We will explore this principle in the communication through touch, in the down and up of lifts, in the joy and control of falling and in the way we negotiate giving and receiving weight. And we will let it go again, allowing the more unconscious flow to help us to dive into the dance. Maybe we notice how some of our contact habits might shift a bit.

Level: A basic understanding of Contact Improvisation is necessary to follow the workshop. (or good beginner to advanced practitioners)
